Little girl moves to the Big city

So looks as though I have not posted on here since...well, April I suppose. Since then so much has happened in my life. SO MUCH.
I guess I will start off, by mentioning I now live in Vancouver. A BIG step for me, that's for sure.
It's an odd feeling looking back at those previous posts and remembering where i was typing those, and what state of mind I was in back then. Sitting in my bedroom at my computer, sipping on tea at my desk (which faced a black and white photograph of Paris) anticipating the move to Vancouver in the Fall.
Now here I am, it's fall, I'm in Vancouver, sitting at a table facing huge open windows, overlooking the water and B.C place. Fantastic.
At the moment I am currently finishing up my first semester at school. Fashion Merchandising no less. It's great, though I can't wait to move on to some more hands on things. Book work is all fine and dandy but I am so excited to start styling. With my luck we won't have that class until the very end of the year or something ridiculous.
I was actually just reminded of my blog from a school project...A e-portfolio actually. I was working on my last page. The contact page. I was thinking a website would be a nice addition to that contacting page...then I remembered I once upon a time blogged! What a nice re-discovery and here I am back on this again.
I will be writing about some Vancouver style here SOON! Probably once I get back home from some shopping...alright it's raining outside, but there are annoying construction workers meddeling around the house touching up our newly re-done floors. They are soooo loud, that's why I gotta get out of here for a couple hours...Wish it weren't raining though. SIGH.
I'll deal.

NYLON

NYLON MAGAZINE
Hip, young, fresh.
This magazine is, well, cool to say the least.
I enjoy the articles on up and comers, the hip aesthetic, the layout. A magazine well done.
I recently subscribed to the Nylon magazine TV channel, and am loving the behind the scenes cover shoots.
So i have decided to share with you, some of my favourite shoots!

The most recent posted video has Blake Lively and Leighton Meester for the May '08 issue. Mind you, I don't watch Gossip girls and i can't say i am rather fond of these actresses, but in the first few seconds with all the designer accessories laying across the black tables, you can't really resist watching.
Pay close attention at 1:24 in this one, because the most amazing black Chanel pumps appear.

Here we have Rachel Bilson for the March '08 issue:

And Mary-kate Olsen for the December '07 issue:

So far, i think those have been my favourite videos from Nylon magazine t.v. It probably helps that i am somewhat of a fan of the actresses in the last two videos.
Rachel Bilson is such a sweet, little actress. From the O.C to her most recent film Jumper, Ms.Bilson always plays that girl you want to be BFF's with and always snags the cute boyfriend. Who can blame her, really? Her personal style definitely reflects living in L.A. Casual, girly, and simple. Though, she always seems to be so well put together, wearing some basic skinny jeans, rockin' a leather jacket while toting a Derek Lam hand bag, she makes it all look so effortless.

What to say about Mary-kate Olsen. She is talked about constantly. How did she become so cool? Well, she is a style maverick, wearing everything and anything, from Prada turbans to sky high Balenciaga heels. Many criticize her look, though it never seems to bother MK, as she still goes on wearing whatever the heck she wants. She has a unique style of her own, that i truly admire.

Nylon is a great channel to subscribe to as they also have many other quirky videos posted of interviews with bands and different events.
That's all i have to say about NYLON tonight. The magazine speaks for itself.

W.W.W.D

"We dont care who you're dating, or if you eat. We only care about what you wear"

I would like to express my adoration for the site, http://www.whowhatweardaily.com/.
As i was flipping through a magazine sometime last year, i came across an article talking about w.w.w.d. It looked intriguing so, off i went to the computer to see what all the fuss was about.
Well, as I scanned through the site, there wasn't much to it. Navigating around was confusing and there weren't many pictures, or articles for that matter. Though i will mention, at that point, the site was still quite new and there weren't many great features. So i just typed in my email to get newsletters and never went back to the site. The moment i was filling in my email address i never thought that those newsletters would be something i would get excited about reading every morning.

They mainly talk about celeb style, which i do enjoy, since i find the content to be a little lighter and is a bit of a break from the more "serious style sites". They also cover a variety of designer runway shows. On "who what wear t.v" (60 second videos starring the founders of w.w.w.d) they give you runway inspired looks that they create from their fashion closet. It gives the average girl hope, that they too can look asthough they just came off the runway. Most recently covered was, of course, New York fashion week, with a "who what wear t.v" segment on it. They met with hot, up and coming designers like Jovovich-Hawk and a personal fav, Alexander Wang.

Right! i forgot to mention a little background detail about this site. It was founded by two women, Katherine Power and Hillary Kerr. Before subscribing to this site i had not heard of their names, but by reading an article on their backgrounds, i was surprised that i hadn't heard of them. Prior to creating w.w.w.d, Ms. Power was the west coast editor of ELLE and Ellegirl, and Ms.Kerr a L.A based free-lance writer for publications including, ELLE, Teen Vogue, Nylon and Maxim...very cool!

You know when you are flipping through a magazine, or looking on a site, and you go "Wow, that looks amazing on her, where can i get that?" Well, the w.w.w.d team will answer your questions about what certain celebs were wearing in that exact pic you were pondering about (Given enough people ask about the same celeb etc.) They will even give you an alternative option to what the celeb was wearing, you know, if you don't have a spare $2000 to spend on that new it bag...sigh.

Oh and one more thing...on the site there is even a "little black book" to living the life in L.A. Where to go to get your hair done, the best places to buy certain things, and even the hippest places to party on the weekends!

This is a little site i will not be un-subscribing from any time soon...

My first entry

Hello
I guess i will start of by giving a reason as to why i decided to start a blog.
The other night i was surfing through my usual fashion blog sites. Copenhagen street style, The sartorialist, Face Hunter etc. and i thought to myself, I want to make a few comments of my own. You know, about looks that I like and things that I have noticed (mainly in fashion).
So, basically, this is mostly to get ideas out of my head and onto something more visual.

To start off, a few nights ago i was on
http://www.stevemadden.com/ and came across some superb knee high boots. I will mention the fact that i wear a pair of leather knee high flat boots almost every day of the fall/winter season...hmm might as well make that spring/fall/winter season. The reason i was looking for some boots on that site is sadly because, one of my favourite pairs of boots is starting to deteriorate on me. There are some holes starting to form near the toe of the boot and they are in rough shape. They have served me well.
EXHIBIT A
This pair of boots is almost perfect and i will emphasize almost.
But i will go on with some reasons why i like them quite a bit...
I LOVE the wedge heel. This is one of the features that are on my 'fav' pair that are dying... and the little wedge is also on the Loeffler Randell boots...one day.
Another cool thing about this particular pair is the fringe on the side. Very rock 'n' roll. I will mention these also come in black leather! But, i think i am rather fond of this camel colour at the moment.

EXHIBIT B
This pair. Alright, i will admit they aren't spectacular or anything, and i don't LOVE them, but they are a lovely staple pair of flat knee highs that will go with everything.
They do come in a variety of shades too! But i mean who doesn't need another pair of basic black boots?

Well those are the two pairs of boots i found. Nothing heart stopping, but something that i will be needing to restock on this coming fall. I also need to get out of just wearing flat boots. These have inspired me to convert to heeled boots:

EXHIBIT WOW
This pair of Christian Louboutins IS amazing. I would prefer them in black. But if those were given to me, you know I'd take them without question. They are the boot. They retail for $1295 on http://www.neimanmarcus.com/. They aren't currently available obviously, but you know, I'm in no rush...

I guess i should probably get into thinking about summery things. Though it is very hard to get into buying for spring/summer when there are still pieces of snow flying out of the air the size of toonies!

BUT as i was cruising along looking at boots, i decided to click on new arrivals and what do i find but an amazing pair of platform patent black sandals! "I'm getting them". Well I'll get them once it hits a temperature that is suitable for no socks with leg warmers. They are adorable.

That's all for now!
Dream about shoes.
Goodnight.
